Bruno Pavlovsky resigned from the board of Chanel Limited on Thursday, ending his seat on the UK entity while he retains operational control of fashion, craftsmanship and French-division mandates at the Wertheimer-owned luxury group.
The 63-year-old continues as president of fashion at Chanel, president of swimwear brand Eres, president of French division Chanel SAS, and president of Le19M, Chanel's craftsmanship hub in northern Paris. The board exit carries no change to any of those posts.
What does the board reshuffle change?
The move completes a governance restructuring launched five years ago by the Wertheimer family. In a statement to WWD, Chanel said: "We confirm that Bruno Pavlovsky has resigned from the board of Chanel Limited."
The company added that the change "marks the completion of the board's evolution towards a composition of independent directors, bringing diverse external expertise and perspectives, while retaining executive representation through the global executive chairman and global chief executive officer."
How does the leadership lineup map to the creative pipeline?
Leena Nair arrived as global CEO in 2021. She now works with a fully external board at the Chanel Limited level. John Galantic, president and COO of Chanel Inc. since 2006, exited earlier in the same succession plan.
Pavlovsky joined Chanel in 1990 from consultant Deloitte and took the fashion presidency in 2004. He has worked with three of Chanel's four official creative directors: Karl Lagerfeld until 2019, Virginie Viard from 2019 to 2024, and Matthieu Blazy since April 2025.
What revenue base anchors the transition?
Chanel's 2025 revenue rose 3 percent at reported exchange rates to $19.3 billion. Comparable growth came in at 1.8 percent.
Unconfirmed reports cited in the source put comparable sales up 16 percent in the first half of 2026, lifted by Blazy's first collections reaching stores. The figure sets the baseline for capacity, licensing and supplier decisions under independent board oversight.
Which operational roles does Pavlovsky keep?
Eres, a swimwear brand acquired by Chanel in 2011, and Le19M — the Aubervilliers hub that houses 11 métiers d'art workshops — both sit within his retained portfolio. The two assets point to continuity on swimwear sourcing and on small-volume craft vendor relationships.
He also heads the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, French fashion's governing body, a post he has held since 2022 and to which he won re-election in July. French President Emmanuel Macron named him an officer of the French Order of Merit in 2024.
What comes next for the group?
Retention of the federation presidency keeps Pavlovsky in the room for policy decisions on supply-chain transparency, sustainability rules and craftsmanship training that affect vendor selection across French luxury.
The next data point is full-year 2026 results, which will show whether the H1 comparable spike holds for the $19.3 billion revenue base under the new independent-board structure.
